Newcastle, NSW
CLIENT: Thiess John Holland
VALUE: $40 Million

The Kooragang Coal Terminal is situated close to Newcastle in NSW and is a major coal export terminal. The Second Shipping Stream was constructed to augment the existing export facilities. The new facility incorporates the following principal items of equipment:
The terminal is situated on reclaimed land and required extensive piling and civil works. The piles were installed to strict settlement limits and pile installation works had to ensure minimum vibration disturbance to the adjacent running plant equipment.
For this project which was valued in excess of $40 million, Baigents Pty Ltd carried out the design of the piling works and civil works, including pile caps, drainage, etc. The detail mechanical and structural design of the conveyor plant including all the pulley support frames, take-ups and chutes, etc. was also included.
Baigents Pty Ltd also prepared shop detail steelwork drawings for the majority of the projects.
