Bluewaters Power Station Bunbury

Bluewaters Power Station will be the most efficient coal-fired power station in Western Australia, with Units 1 and 2 providing a total capacity of 416MW.  Located inland of Bunbury, Bluewaters will represent state-of-the-art technology in coal-fired power stations of this size.

Baigents Pty Ltd were engaged to complete the structural engineering design and shop-detailing of the Fabric Filter Dust Collection Plant for the two identical units, requiring approximately 1200t of structural steel.  Outotec's decision to fabricate the steelwork in China required Baigents' team to design and document the plant using lower grade Chinese steel sections.  Due to shipment requirements, it was also necessary for the structural design to allow for a combination of modular and piece-small ship-containerised construction.  The structure was modelled in 3-D using Prosteel structural steel-deatiling software, which also ensured full co-ordination with the mechanical components.
